It's Okay to Step Away02/04/2025Hey Reader, If you're a believer in the "hustle" culture you're more likely to burn out than someone who knows when to step back. Here's why. The last couple of weeks have been brutal in terms of prepping for the move, coordinating the new house, current house, etc. On top of all that, I'm driving 10+ hours a week to go up to help family and also be present with the new house coordination. AND on top of that, I've been sick for the last 3 weeks. Started off with a super dry nose from the sub-zero temps. Now it's a full-blown cold and as I type this, I feel my body fatigue ten-fold. I've consumed so much tea in the last few weeks. Here's what my content schedule has looked like in the last two weeks: I came into 2025 with the task of posting at minimum 365 times. This means I'm no longer holding myself to the standard of two posts per day. Why? Because I've come to find out that it's not necessary and I'd rather focus on making more quality content. Does not mean I won't post twice a day if I can. Hell, the first two days of the year I posted like 10 pieces of content. But the last two weeks have been harder and harder, to the point where I've taken a step back. And that my friends is why people like myself will last longer than most in the "hustle" culture. I've posted over 1,000 pieces of content to Instagram since August 2023. I've seen other creators pick up after me and started posting more, now, I don't see them posting as much anymore. Is it because they got burnt out? Maybe. Seeing how that's the most likely culprit. But taking a step back is not giving up. It's being smart. Social media is never going away (unless you're TikTok, then you go away and get brought back 12 hours later). What is going away, is your time. You will never get that back. So if you're in a rut, moving, or you're sicker than a dog, take a step back. Because when you do it, you'll recover, refresh and be motivated to get back into it. Fun fact, I haven't edited POV content in about three weeks. Whenever I do it, I feel weird doing it. Because it used to be muscle memory, now it feels less like the norm for me. It's important as a creative to keep practicing and making sure you still retain your craft. However, you're not going to lose that progress by taking the day, or the week. So remember that if you make sure to give yourself TIME, you will outlast everyone else. Remember that your audience will always be there, and no matter what, they'll support you. That's the power of personal branding. And if you want to learn more about personal branding and finding success on social media, I'll be launching my new workshop, Creator Clarity Lab in the coming weeks. So stay tuned if that interests you, because as a newsletter recipient, you'll get a super special offer that no one else will get. And this isn't just hyping it up, I'm serious about this.
